UNWRITTEN · Let’s Start · Where It All Began
The morning managed to arrive,
after the night fought to hang on.
I open my eyes, still alive,
and I know what was lost, and what is gone.
Thoughts poured over dark coffee,
your chair still facing the door.
The Forge wakes up around me,
and you don’t live here anymore.
The feeling sinking in,
like the thick morning dew.
And I don’t want to let go,
all these years, it shouldn’t be anything new.
But these things never truly heal.
They just carry on.
You did what you did
and you did it for us
There should have been another way
another way...
How can we ever make this right?
So where to begin?
From the beginning.
From where you left off.
Let’s start. It’s just me.
But I know where to look.
Even when I feel myself hesitant.
Let’s just start.
Your pen is heavier than my sword,
and I have carried both.
You left the page turned open,
and a promise under oath.
I’ve read your last words a hundred times,
the ink has not dried yet.
You wrote yourself into the dark.
Unapologetic. Complete. Without a second thought.
So I’m not finished. Not yet.
The feeling sinking in,
and I let it sharpen to a vow.
I have found the lost before,
and I will find a way somehow.
So where to begin?
From the beginning.
From where you left off.
It’s just me.
But I know where to look.
Even when my eyes want to look away.
Let’s start. Because if I don’t...
mmmmmm
mmmmhhmmmmmmmm
I know what to do.
But I shouldn’t be the one doing it.
This was yours. The words were always yours to bleed.
But you left it to me.
You left it to me...
Why me...
of course me...
I’ll find a way.
And if the door only opens
for the one who stays inside,
then I’ll learn the way you loved us.
These words, full of grief, full of the weight you carried,
I will not be denied.
I’ll find a way...
Somehow...
I’ll find a way....
Where to begin?
the beginning.
From where you left off.
It’s just me.
And that will have to be enough.
I know where to look.
Let’s start.
The morning manages to arrive.
And so do I.
So let’s start.
Pray for me...
Pray for me...
Pray for me....
