SOULFORGED
The Shadow-Sworn arrive at dawn."
The Lantern
You can pause here, or return to the start. Whatever you choose, it costs nothing.
SOULFORGED
What This Is
SOULFORGED is a tabletop RPG where every meaningful choice marks your soul. Characters carry visible scars on their skin from what they have done, witnessed, and survived. Some marks burn bright. Some bleed dark. All of them stay with you.
The dice do not just tell you if you succeed. They tell you what the moment costs.
The World
You live in Virelya, a fading realm where the sun grows cold. A thousand years ago the great families murdered the Dragon Child and erased him from history. They built their power on lies so complete the lies became truth.
But the Forge remembers. When mortal emotion burns hot enough, the Forge reaches across the void between what is and what was. It marks you. It claims you. It makes you Soulforged.
You are one of them. Tonight, in a small village called Westmere, you will find out what you carry. The Shadow-Sworn is coming at dawn.
The Dice
Significant actions roll a d20 for success or failure, AND six Ember Dice for what the action costs you emotionally. The action can succeed but cost you, or fail but strengthen you.
Each Resonance has a light side and a dark side. Devotion can become obsession. Intensity can become uncontrolled rage. The game does not judge. It explores.
The Patterns
When you roll Ember Dice, look for matches. The pattern is what the action does to you.
Soulfire (4+ match) · The Forge itself answers. Reality bends. A permanent mark is earned.
Blazing (3 match) · A Rewrite is possible. Something that could have been true, is.
Conflicted (2 pairs) · Two truths pull at you. Advantage in one. Cost in the other.
Forged (1 pair) · A Forged State. Advantage on that Resonance for the rest of the scene.
Scattered (no match) · Emotional chaos. The moment slips. You pay.
The Marks
You begin the night already carrying one mark. By morning, you will carry another. You will name it in your own words. It will be yours to keep.
